In This series of paintings, I scanned religious icons (are there any other kind?) into the computer and changed the perspective in photo-shop. Then I was able to use the finished image as a reference point for a much larger painting. Even though Christian motifs are running rapid through this series; I am not so interested in portraying Christianity, but rather an old art form with a modern eye.

I would be delighted if the viewer found a spiritual connection with the paintings, but I certainly don't want to alienate anyone and their particular beliefs. I myself am a lapse Catholic, (maybe that's where my fascination with gold leaf and halos come from). At least on some level, I hope these paintings bring pleasure.
